: Random idea from my sister's church: what do you think? : Alibobble December 01, 2006, 12:56:24 PM Ok, my sister has just started work at a youth minister in truro and thus has to get to know people fairly quick. In their hurch they have a directory of photos and names that newbies can borrow for a week or so and get to be able to put names to faces.
Confession time: I have been at CCP for 3 months or so now and tones of people have said hello and told me their names a number of times but I'm HOPELESS and I mean HOPELESS with names. There are certain people who I dread one day will ask me to introduce them to DH (darling husband) and I won't be able to do it. It's SO EMBARRESSING! :-[ Am a social moron at the best of times (talk too much nonesense and generally put my foot in it!) so for me it would be a great help. What are people's opinions on such a thing? Would you let your face be featured? I've been in the church years and I still find it difficult to remember peoples names.
At a church I went to in Cambridge they had a welcome pack with info about the church for visitors which they used to give out at each service. It mean't visitors had to be quite brave and put their hand up to get one but at least everyone knew they were new and could say hello. We could even use chocolate as an incentive. I know it would work for me! ;D Also once a month the visitors could go to lunch after the service. This was quite good as there were lots of students but I'm sure these ideas could be adapted. |
