Discuss the ways in which ambassadors such as Terry Waite
and
Archbishop Desmond Tutu put into practice the biblical principles of
reconciliation in order to bring about the results they have achieved
in recent history. What sorts of behaviour do you see in them ?
Some people that we try to 'reconcile to God' may do everything in
their power to distance themselves as far as possible from us and other
Christians. What should our attitude be towards them (e.g. give up on
them, keep trying, or some other approach) ? Compare this with the
opinion of Jesus in Luke 9:5 (did Jesus always react like this ?).
2 Cor 5:11 says that we try to persuade other people about God because
of our own "fear" or "terror" of Him (choice of quoted word
depends on
bible translation). Sounds very negative! What does it really mean ?
