Cell Groups at CCP
Cell Groups are the lifeblood of our relationships, worship, growth, and well, pretty much everything we are and do here at CCP. The term 'cell group' might conjur up images of sitting in a jail cell, or could cause you to think of terrorist cells. We can assure you that neither of these are the case.
The word 'cell' is used to refer to the basic element of life, the biological cell. Our bodies are made up of living and multiplying cells. Together they form the complex structures which are our bodies. Likewise, the Bible refers to the church as being the 'body of Christ' and here at CCP that body is made up of these living and multiplying cells.
If you want to join in life at CCP then the best way to get involved and to get to know people is by joining a cell group. You can see the contact details of all cell leaders on the Cell Groups Contact page.
Each cell is made up of anything from 3 to about 15 people, of all ages, backgrounds, and level of understanding of the Christian faith. In fact some cells even have people in them who are not Christians, but are there to explore and find out more about what it is we believe, and in turn find support, accpetance and love there.
Each cell meets most weeks in each others homes (if you don't want a cell group to meet at your home then that is fine, there is no requirement that they do). In meeting in homes rather than a formal setting like church the cells have a fun, relaxed and informal time together where lives are shared, problems prayed for, the Bible is studied. Cells also have a time of worshipping Jesus which can be anything from a quiet meditation to singing a song or two.
In a body cells are meant to multiply. That's their purpose. In the church much the same is true. We expect people in cells to be telling not in cells about Jesus and inviting them along to social events and even the midweek cell meeting they go to. Why? Because we believe that Jesus wants everyone to know him and receive his offer of eternal life. Inviting people into a big church setting is daunting, whereas inviting them into a cell group should be much more friendly and comfortable. As people come along to a cell so the cell will get too big and need to split into two cells. Multiplication.
One question often asked is "Is going to cell the same as going to church?" The answer is most definitely 'yes!' Jesus said "Where two or three are gathered in my name, there I am with them also." Wow. So if it's good enough for Jesus then its good enough for us.
We do want people to come to church on a sunday as well if they can, simply because there you will find enriching teaching and uplifting worship. It is good to gather together in a larger group and be with God together.
