PHILLIPA'S PRAYER LETTER
"Seek justice, rescue the oppressed, defend the orphan, and plead for the widow"
At the end of this month I am flying out to South Asia for a year to serve as a volunteer legal fellow with a Christian human rights organization called International Justice Mission. International Justice Mission is an organization that rescues victims of violence, sexual exploitation, slavery and oppression. IJM lawyers, investigators and aftercare specialists document cases of abuse and oppression and mobilize intervention on behalf of those who are suffering. The office I will be going to deals with issues of forced labour slavery.
I am acutely aware that the mission I am about to undertake will be exciting but also challenging and difficult at times. I am aware that I am totally dependent on God in this and that I will need people who will pray for me, after all, every mission starts on its knees.
Please pray for the following:
1. The work of justice and that God's favour would be upon the work.
2. Victims of abuses: that more and more victims would be rescued and lives restored.
3. The perpetrators of human rights abuses, that hearts of stone would be turned into hearts of flesh.
4. A smooth transition into the country, in particular:-
a. Finding a place to live.
b. Cultural transition.
c. I would quickly get to grips with the law and legal system and also my skills would be useful and assist other members of staff.
5. Protection/personal security in the country not just for me but also for other members of staff, particularly the investigators who go into very challenging situations.
6. Good health. I have experienced the "South Asian slim fast plan" once before and it isn't very pleasant.
